The Flaws and Death of Peter the Great
Although Peter was in fact one of the best and most impressive rulers to ever go through Russia, he was also said to be cruel and violent. He was intimidating at a height of six and a half feet and imposed high taxes that accompanied his many reforms. Peter's efforts to quickly build hid city caused death among thousands of men since he disregarded their harsh working conditions. He was a handsome man, married twice with a total of eleven children, most of which died extremely early. Alexis, his eldest son, was convicted of high treason and executed by Peter secretly in 1718. Peter then passed in St. Petersburg in 1725 without choosing an heir to inherit the throne. He was buried there, in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul.
